Saeed Saber-Samandari

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Saeed Saber-Samandari is an associate professor at Amirkabir University of Technology and a faculty member in the New Technologies Research Center (NTRC). Dr. Saber-Samandari has integrated his strong background in mechanical engineering to the interdisciplinary science of materials engineering. He has modeled, tested and numerically analyzed many engineering materials with a special focus on advanced materials, since 2004 when he commenced his M. Eng. Sc. at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has successfully introduced a new formula to estimate the elastic modulus of interphase as the third phase in polymer matrix nanocomposite materials. His PhD studies at the University of Melbourne (2006-2008) on measuring the mechanical properties at the nano- and micro-scales concentrated on the biomaterial hydroxyapatite. The experience gained in this field led to a post doc research fellow position being awarded to him by Swinburne University of Technology in Sep 2008. He has authored more than 150 papers (h-index 46) and is an inventor of more than 10 patents in the field of materials science and engineering. Dr. Saber-Samandari’s research career has focused on developing advanced nano- and biomaterials for biotechnology. His research group are using experimental studies and computational models of the advanced materials to describe and explain a relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties of nanocomposite materials, biomaterials, etc.
